DON'T PANIC BOOK LAUNCH

– Words That Shifted
a National Mood

Delivered a keynote that reframed fear and restored perspective—capturing national media attention and reigniting hope.

At a time when national sentiment in South Africa was deeply negative, Alan Knott-Craig Jr., then CEO of Cell C (and son of Vodacom’s founding CEO), launched his book Don’t Panic—a rallying cry for perspective and progress.

I was invited to introduce and close the Durban launch event, hosted for national media and business leaders. Drawing on my own experiences of living abroad, I reminded the audience of what still made South Africa remarkable—its resilience, richness, and untapped potential.

The next day, newspapers quoted my speech, and messages from the public poured in. The right words, at the right moment, shifted the tone—from despair to possibility.
