Curated and hosted an internal event that transformed fear into focus—and left the business buzzing with renewed belief.
At a time of political unrest and growing fear in South Africa, internal morale at Unilever had taken a knock. Workshops were being cancelled. Energy was flat.
To restore belief and lift the mood, I curated and hosted an internal event designed to shift the narrative. I invited Steuart Pennington, founder of SA The Good News, to present real, hopeful data about South Africa’s progress. I welcomed the entire office, introduced Unilever’s then-Chairperson Gail Klintworth, and opened and closed the event as the keynote facilitator.
The impact was instant. My inbox filled with messages from staff thanking me for restoring perspective and hope.
THE TAKEAWAY?
When people feel safe and inspired, they don’t just meet expectations—they exceed them.
"Julia lit up the stage and brought the room back to life. Her energy was infectious—you couldn’t help but feel hopeful again. For the first time in weeks, I left work buzzing with possibility. It wasn’t just a talk—it was a turning point. She reminded us that even in uncertain times, we still get to choose how we show up."
